Babycenter.com: At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.
Obviously, every pregnancy is different so it doesn't describe the twins perfectly, but it is a fun bit of information. Doctor Z said I could have the babies anytime after 34 weeks, which puts us at March 23rd (12 more weeks). We'll try to hang on til April, but no guarantees :)
Went to see the twins today! 20 weeks! They're doing great! Doctor was very encouraged at their development. Each weighs 7 ounces and have healthy heartbeats. They also found another placenta, which is very encouraging. 50/50 chance they're identical vs. fraternal. We'll just wait & see! Ian's guess is boys ;) So exciting to anticipate! Just a couple updated pictures. The twins are aprox. 5.5" - 6" and weigh about 8.5 ounces each. We get to see them on Dec. 15th for our 5 month check up!! I can't believe I'm over halfway there. It has been such a blessed pregnancy!! I've enjoyed every bit! Again, thank you for your prayers!
Just wanted to blog an update. The twins are now the size of turnips; crown-to-rump length is about 4.5" - 5" and they each weigh about 4 to 5 ounces. Their skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone & the umbilical cords are growing stronger & thicker. Their fingernails are well formed & they are beginning to accumulate fat. I am enjoying pregnancy & thank the Lord daily for what He is accomplishing in & through me! Thank you for your prayers!
So, I know it's a little early to be posting this since Thanksgiving is this week, but we figured that we'd be ahead of the game in wishing y'all a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!!! Had another doctors appointment today. Sadly, we didn't get to see the twins. There was a mix up with scheduling. But it is comforting to me that Dr. Z has every confidence that the babies are doing well. We did hear their heartbeats on the doppler. They sounded strong! They checked my blood & said that I have insufficient iron; gave me pills to take. My next appointment, with ultrasound, will be on Dec. 15th. Sorry, no pictures of them this month. I am anticipating all the new things I will experience between now & then. Thank you so much for your prayers over the 4 of us. I am really enjoying this pregnancy!!

Just wanted to show off a bit. I can't believe that I'm in my 4th month! Morning sickness seems to have subsided, but I get worn out very quickly. I don't stray too far from home; no energy. Part of that is frustrating because I have things that I would like to be doing. I seem to be able to fall asleep anywhere, anytime. Hope that keeps up when they arrive. I keep feeling baby flutters, but they say that you start feeling "movement" within 18-22 weeks. The baby's are now 3.5". I am anxious to see them on the 17th! The doctors will then know their gender, but Ian and I aren't going to find out. We're discussing many different name combinations, which we won't reveal until they arrive either. I know, sorry to keep y'all in anticipation. Such a fun experience! I am truly blessed!
We haven't bought anything yet, but Ian and I are looking around for a new family vehicle. With twins, we will rapidly outgrow my Pontiac. With a double stroller in the trunk, there's no room for anything else; passengers, groceries, dry cleaning, etc. We went to the Ford dealership on the 7th & test drove their Explorer. I really like it! The 2010 model has a "sync" upgrade that links to your cell phone so when someone calls you, you pick it up by pressing a button on the steering wheel & their voice comes through the car speakers. Great feature! Love being hands free!! The turning radius is also fantastic!! Drives like a dream. There are a couple of other SUV's that we're going to try out (not sold on the idea of a van). We want something that we can keep for a long time; something that will grow with us. Fun changing times!
Ian and I had our 12th week appointment today! Every time we visit the doctor, we seem to be given a surprise blessing. First visit was twins, this visit they were able to discover a very thin membrane separating siblings! They are not Monoamniotic! It is as if they both are being contained by their own guardian angels while they develop. We also heard their heartbeats. It was SO incredible! They are healthy & active little guys. We are blessed and so very thankful!!

So, I'm 11 weeks along tomorrow and my next appointment is on the 20th. There have been a couple of things that I have discovered thus far: - There is much I am thankful for...Ice cream is a big one! - I LOVE WATER!!! - The twins do not like oatmeal!! - Naps are very frequent & welcomed. - Hormones are extreme & oftentimes scary. Poor Ian! - My bathroom is my friend. We spend a lot of time together. - Running errands is not fun on one's own; Shopping is never a good thing when hungry. - I would love to wear my maternity sweatpants everyday. All non-comfy clothes must go! - My nose is not a fan of a great many things...mainly the litter box. - Nothing is more important than FOOD! - A comfortable environment at all times is extremely important. - I cannot have my hair pulled back for long periods of time; too heavy...So annoying! - All my senses are working TOO perfectly; Hearing, taste, & smell are sometimes my enemies. - Hot & Cold flashes are NOT Pleasant! - Annoyances & Irritations are frequent visitors. - My husband ROCKS!!! Ian knows how to take care of his B and does an amazing job!

I wanted to share the "Honey, I'm pregnant" story with y'all. I found out the morning of September 5th when Ian was at work. I was trying to come up with a clever way to share this news with him. I took a picture of the test & kept looking at it confirming the positive result I had seen. It seemed unreal! I have a little mailbox that I made Ian and I frequently fill it with love notes & such. That is how I wanted to tell him. I decided to write him a note & attach the picture. But it wasn't quite enough, so I went to WalMart & found this adorable pair of baby shoes that say "Dad's Team" on them. I placed everything in a shoe box along with a single shoe of Ian's. The baby shoes were inside his shoe. We created someone to walk in his footsteps. The note read, "Babe, I'm not sure how to tell you this, so I'll let the shoes & picture speak for themselves. Congratulations! I love you!" Upon reading it, he was perplexed, and had no idea what was in the shoe box. He certainly was not thinking BABY. He opened the box, and said, "Really? Are you serious?" :) Yup...pretty darn :) Now I'm twice the serious! He informed me recently that he needs another pair of baby shoes :)
Not the greatest picture, but tis true! Ian and I are pregnant with TWINS!! We had our first doctors appointment yesterday. Our little miracles are 8 weeks along. We are overwhelmed & overjoyed! This wasn't planned, but also wasn't prevented. So it is the Lord's perfect timing. Thankfully, I am not suffering too much from morning sickness & haven't found anything that these two won't eat :) Ian and I are thrilled! It is so unbelievably amazing!!

What are Monoamniotic Twins? Monoamniotic twins are identical twins that develop inside the same amniotic sac. Also known as MoMo twins (Monoamniotic-Monochorionic), monoamniotic twins are always identical. These share a placenta within their mother’s uterus, but have two separate umbilical cords for nourishment. Monoamniotic twins are rare, occurring in approximately 1 in 35,000 to 1 in 60,000 pregnancies. Monoamniotic triplets can also develop, but this is extremely rare.
Unfortunately, monoamniotic twins are at great risk for health complications due to the close proximity of the two umbilical cords in the amniotic sac. This makes it particularly easy for the twins to become entangled in each other’s cords, or to compress one another’s cords, endangering their oxygen and food supply. The survival rate for monoamniotic twins is approximately 50%.
Why Do Monoamniotic Twins Form? No one is really sure why monoamniotic twins develop. Identical twins (also known as monozygotic twins) develop from a single fertilized egg that splits at some point after fertilization. Typically, this split occurs a few days after fertilization, just after the placenta forms but before the development of the amniotic sacs. These twins share a placenta but have individual amniotic sacs.
However, sometimes the fertilized embryo does not split until after the formation of the amniotic sac. As a result, these identical twins share both a placenta and an amniotic sac.
Recent research has shown a correlation between the number of yolk sacs present in pregnancy and the number of amniotic sacs twins will have. The yolk sac forms just after conception occurs and is thought to play a role in nourishing the developing embryo. With twins, there can be one yolk sac or two yolk sacs.
It has been found that twins with two yolk sacs are much more likely to have two separate amniotic sacs. On the other hand, twins with just one yolk sac seem to be more likely to have only one amniotic sac. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to detect the number of yolk sacs present during pregnancy, because the yolk sac disappears in the initial weeks of the first trimester.
Complications Associated with Monoamniotic Twins Unfortunately, monoamniotic twins face a lot of potential health hazards throughout pregnancy. Many of these can be life threatening, so it is important to make sure that you receive specialized care if you are experiencing this type of twin pregnancy. Possible complications include:
Cord Entanglement: Cord entanglement is one of the main complications associated with monoamniotic twins. Because the twins have no amniotic membrane separating them, their umbilical cords can easily become entangled. This can hinder fetal movement and development. Additionally, if the twins become tied together in the uterus, one twin may become stuck in the birth canal during labor and delivery, which can be life threatening. Cord entanglement happens to some degree in almost all monoamniotic pregnancies.
Cord Compression: Cord compression is another life threatening condition common in monoamniotic twins. As the twins move around in the amniotic sac, it is possible that one will compress the other’s umbilical cord. This can prevent vital nutrients and blood from traveling to the other baby, resulting in fetal death.
Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS): Twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome can occur in monoamniotic twins. This syndrome happens when one twin receives the majority of the nourishment in the womb, causing the other twin to become undernourished and sickly. Typically, TTTS is diagnosed by examining fluid levels in the two amniotic sacs. But because monoamniotic twins only have one amniotic sac, diagnosis of TTTS is much more difficult. Diagnosis rests on comparing the physical development of both of the twins.
Preterm Birth: All monoamniotic twins are born premature. This is because full-term pregnancy is deemed unsafe by most medical professionals. The risk for cord entanglement and compression simply becomes too great after 34 weeks. For this reason, all monoamniotic twins are delivered by cesarean section at 34 weeks. However, many monoamniotic twins experience life-threatening complications as early as 26 weeks, and need to be delivered immediately. Preterm delivery is often associated with a number of life-threatening conditions.

I heard from my baby brother! He left for the Army on August 17th. He mailed us a letter letting us know that he is doing well. He has made quite the reputation for himself, earning the title "Jesus" Jeff as he exhibits his faith to others. No doubt he will make a huge impact on this world for Christ.

Today was my first day at Kingdom Kids Preschool! I am looking very forward to this new year! I am the "movement" teacher(P.E.) for the 3 & 4 year old's, and I assist in the "turtle" two's class. My schedule is Tuesdays & Thursdays, 8:30-2:30. I am so blessed to work alongside amazing women who have hearts to serve the children of God. Thank you for your prayers! I will be relying on them for strength & endurance throughout the year.
Highlights: (PRAISES!) - Ian finished his first phase of FTO! He's doing great & loves his job! - Starting the 26th, I will be working part time with 2-4 year olds at GBC's Kingdom Kids preschool! - GBC is starting up another Newlywed/Young Married class at the Southwood Campus! - I travel to St.Louis this week to help my in-laws move! They might have a home in Texas by Christmas! - My cousin, Jarre', is getting married!

I was in Reno, NV this past week witnessing the wonderful, blessed occasion of marriage between my beloved sister Mandy and Bill Campbell! It was wonderful seeing friends & family and sharing in the joy of their union before God & loved ones! How perfect His plan to have created these two amazing individuals for one another!!
Ian and I have been married for 4 years today! Oh, the blessed bliss of being married to my beloved! We celebrated yesterday because he had to work today; something about being a public servant...protecting citizens... ;) We watched our wedding cd and listened to our vows. It brought back such crazy exciting jitters! I remember this day vividly and feeling like life had just begun. It is so great to reflect on the wonderful times gone by! It leaves us with such grateful hearts to our friends, family & loved ones.
We also went to this great place for dinner called the "MaderD"(Maitre d'). Clever, right? No? :) Yea, we decided to head to Kroger & choose whatever we wanted. I had Sushi and Ian had steak & potatoes. He called it Surf & Turf :) Ha!
Some would ask, "What valuable things have you've learned in your four years of marriage?" We still have so much to learn, but some things that we strive to remember are, no matter how many years go by, we are still Bride & Groom and a marriage must have Grace. We're learning the importance of exemplifying a deep Love for one another and an even deeper Love for the One that created us for each other.
Ian and I are looking forward to many more years of marriage, in which he hopes to gain a doctorate in "Britology" and I in "Ianology". Thank you for sharing in our joy!

It has been our desire that I remain home and focus on my career as a "help meeter"(Ian), "need meeter"(others), and photographer. However, it has become increasingly difficult to live without a steady second income, so we have decided that for the time being, it would be wise for me to get a job in order to assist financially. I will be continuing to grow my photography business on the side, as it is still eventually what we would like for me to do full time.
Please pray that: - the Lord will soon reveal what He would have us do. - we will understand that this trial is a blessing, not a curse. - we recognize this as time of spiritual growth. - we will communicate with one another in love and grace. - we cling to one another and to the promise of Phil. 4:19; trusting that our God shall supply all our needs.

Wouldn't it be nice to be free from all worry? Today's devotional in "My Utmost for His Highest" by Oswald Chambers really impacted me this morning. Naturally, we worry about a great many things, but we are called to not fret. Ps. 37:8. I encourage y'all to read it if you own the book.

"Resting in the Lord does not depend on external circumstances at all, but on our relationship with God Himself...Fretting springs from a determination to get our own way...Our Lord was never worried and He was never anxious, because He was not "out" to realize His own ideas; He was "out" to realize God's ideas...Fretting is wicked if you are a child of God...All our fret and worry is caused by calculating without God...Deliberately tell God that you will not fret about that [any] thing."
So many of you are experiencing life changes (having babies, moving, job searching, financial fluctuations, relationship tension, etc.). I will be lifting you up in prayer, in hopes that you will surrender any worrisome burdens to our Almighty God. He will provide for you and just as the Shepherd desires the best for His sheep, you will be blessed for trusting in His rod & His staff. Fret Not.

We discussed Psalms 23 in bible study this morning. It is true that the Word of God is living and active, because this beautiful Psalm impacted me today like it never has before. Tristy Fischer(pastor's wife) led our discussion and brought to light so many things I hadn't seen before. This passage is so full of life and colorful metaphors. I wanted to share what we learned with you.
Read Psalm 23 aloud with these things in mind. This Psalm is written in present tense. It is active, not passive. The subject, being the LORD(Yahweh)...not David(me), is emphasized in this active passage. The purpose of the the 23rd Psalm is to draw attention to the Lord's reputation. Why does He do all these things(makes, leads, restores, guides)? For me? No...For His name's sake. To prove He is the Good Shepherd. - Reflect on the characteristics of sheep: Sheep aren't very bright. They don't like being alone. They startle easily. They follow the leader & imitate all the other sheep in the flock. They need to be sheered. They need a leader, provider, and protector. - "Cast" Sheep: one that falls over and can't get up. She's frantic and will flail around for hours. The more she struggles, the deeper the rut she'll find herself in. She will eventually die because she cannot get upright by herself. - Reflect on the characteristics of the Shepherd: He cares for the needs of His sheep. Always watchful. Never leaves them alone. Has only the wide open wilderness and his sheep, causing him to bond with them. They are his #1 priority. When one is "cast" he picks her up. He will return them all to the safety of the fold. He will protect them from predators. His goals are to see that his sheep have the best food, the best water and learn to willingly accept His leading. Sometimes, while on their journey, he will gently touch his staff to the sheep's side to encourage her to stay on the right path beside him. The shepherd and his sheep walk together. We were encouraged to read this Psalm while exchanging all the personal words (I, me, my) with our name. Give it a try & be comforted!!

Heat Wave...need I say more? :) It has been in the 100's for a week. Grass, plants, and crops are dying & withering away. Creation is crying out in thirst. We have been praying for rain and have recruited friends & family afar to be prayer warriors on our behalf. Our Omniscient God hears and answers our prayers.
Last night at 3am, we awoke to the blessed sound of thunder and the beautiful sight of rain. Showers of blessing, indeed!!! Our Savior knows our need. I am reminded of Joel 2:23 - "Be glad then, you children of Zion, And rejoice in the Lord your God; For he has given you the former rain faithfully, And He will cause the rain to come down for you..." As many of you already know, I have chosen to begin a career in photography. I would like to explain the reason behind why I decided to call it Focus Found. When Ian began his job with CSPD, we felt the Lord leading us to move on from my sales job at C.C.Creations and begin focusing on the gifts that He has so richly blessed us with. Ian and I began to pray that God would reveal what and where He wanted me to be. Ultimately, it is our desire to raise a family with every intent of me being home full time. But I also wanted to be a help to my husband by assisting monetarily. After much consideration, we finallyfound our focus. With Christ at the center(as represented by the cross centered in my logo), we decided that starting up this business was the best way that I could live to serve my God, my husband, and my home. I have enjoyed keeping up with many of you that have already established Blogs. It is a great way to keep in touch and I have decided to begin doing so. I ask for grace from those that decide to follow our Blog, as this is all quite new to me and I have already had quite a few mishaps. We met freshman year(2002) at Western Baptist College, fell in love, got married, moved to Texas, had 3 beautiful daughters, and are living life and loving the Lord!!
