My kinda art!

Today, I thought we'd take advantage of the gorgeous weather & do our craft outside!! It was time to paint and I figured the messier we got, the funner it would be!

I prepped our art project by stenciling in the meanings of the girls' names & writing a Scripture verse to the side. Then the girls got to put the finishing touches on it with finger-paints!

Karis - "Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love." Eph.6:24

Kelsie - "But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." 1Cor.15:57

I love the way they turned out! The girls did such a great job!!

Now all I need are suitable frames!

Check it out! Heard about the Paleo Diet from friends and it sounds like a healthy way lose weight & maintain while still being able to eat the food you enjoy! I like the idea that "If God didn't create it, then it shouldn't be eaten." It encourages the consumption of natural, non processed foods.

Now I like the convenience of the drive thru fast food occasionally, and I'm not going to turn into an all organic nut, but over all, I agree with the above quote. Nothing is better for your body than what God created for it. The Creator knows how to care for His creation.

Mirror, Mirror...

So, here's a fascinating thing! I'm pretty sure Karis & Kelsie are mirror image twins! There's no real scientific evidence to support this idea, so we'll wait for time to tell, but here's why we think they probably are.

Opposite thumb suckers

They're hair naturally parts on opposite sides

Kare is right handed & Kels is left handed

Kels typically reaches, points, grabs, waves and eats with her left.

Kare typically favors the right hand for waiving, pointing, grabbing, reaching & eating.

We've never paid much attention to it until now, but these are signs of being mirror image twins.

"Mirror image twins are monozygotic(identical), twins that form from a single fertilized egg. When the split occurs late - more than a week(9-12 days) after conception - the twins can develop reverse asymmetric features. This term is not really a type of twin, just a way to describe their physical features. For example, they may be right- and left-handed, have birthmarks on opposite sides of their body, or have hair whorls that swirl in opposite directions. In theory, if the twins faced each other, they would appear to be exact reflections of each other. About 25% of identical twins are mirror image twins."

As they get older, we may notice more developing characteristics: identical dental issues on opposite sides of the mouth; identical eye conditions in opposite eyes; opposite feet larger than the other; identical freckles on opposite sides of the body...

So often, I have had folks say, "Are they twins? They don't look identical." and this explains why they have a hard time believing they're identical twins, because to them, identical means "the exact same...a copy". Unless I've been lied to by medical professionals, I'm sure they're identical. But while Kare & Kels share the same DNA, their profiles look more alike in appearance than their faces do.

Their Creator is truly amazing to have formed these two beautifully fascinating little girls...alike, but different! I am in awe of Him and can't even begin to understand the ins & outs of His design...apparently science can't explain it either. ;) Miracles...that's what they are, and I LOVE them!!
