Precious Rest

Here is my sweet family! I got the 3 of them out of bed this morning, they migrated to the library and decided to resume the same restful positions. I love this picture because it reminds me of a place of peace...Ali in her cat bed, Wrig in his kennel, and my sweet husband curled up on the floor - all asleep. To me, it is a beautiful representation of the life we are to have in Christ...complete rest in the Almighty! Granted, this life will soon change due to the twins, but it will be a blessing to remember what was, as we go through the precious times to come. I am grateful!

Parenthood is just around the corner
37 weeks today! Went in for another ultrasound & pelvic exam. Still no contractions or dilation. Aside from uncomfortable, everything is great! We have a C-section scheduled for April 23rd!! I am so glad to know the end/beginning is in sight. With no signs of labor, I'm pretty sure we can make it. And at this point, we do not want to have them before then because Dr. Z is going on vacation with his family until the 22nd. We really prefer him to be the one to see us through. We are so excited to meet our twins! Just a week & a half left. Thank you, Lord!! You are SO good!

Make it Stop!
Itchy! There is nothing I dislike more than itchy skin. It irritates me to the point of tears, especially when pregnant! Any itch relief creams used on the expanding belly need to be applied frequently in order to make a difference. I'm using Burt's Bees & Pacquin. Any other's work for you, Ladies? Please do share.

New Perspective
After prayerful consideration and time with my Deliverer, I have decided to forgo my mission to try to induce labor prior to 38 weeks. It occurred to me that my motives for doing so were completely selfish. It is so much better for the twins to be within me for as long as possible, so instead of focusing on my own discomfort, I am going to set a new goal...(Buzz Lightyear voice) 38 weeks & beyond!! :)
"The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold." Ps. 18:2
"The LORD [is] my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him." Ps. 28:7
This body is the Lord's. He knows it's limits and He WILL carry me!

Great Report!
We saw Dr. Z again today. He checked me out & continues to be astonished that we've made it full term!!! I am not dilated at all and am still without contractions. It was amazing to see the twins profiles & little mouths moving. Baby A's heart rate - 131 bpm; Baby B's heart rate - 135 bpm. They are getting so big & strong. I feel every kick, punch & roll. It feels like they're planning on exiting right out through the skin! Right now, I am researching ways to induce labor. Doc will take them c-section around 38 weeks, but I want to see if I can help the process along. Tonight I did a couple jumping jacks, lunges & squats. I have yet to feel any progress from doing so.
One thing's for sure, these 2 are definitely taking after their Father because they won't budge. They're proving that they are nice & comfy with their surroundings...a little too comfy perhaps :)
We are very glad that the Lord is in control of the whole situation and knows exactly what the 4 of us need in His perfect timing! We are also very excited to see our babies soon!!

Pregnancy Retardation (Mush Brain)
All you Moms out there know about the horrible mental condition that comes along with being pregnant. Please tell me it eventually goes away! :) It is incredible to me how I can know something one moment & then be completely clueless the next.
I am thawing chicken out in the microwave while working on other projects/household chores as well. I get side tracked, Ian and I head out to run some errands, and go to his Mom & Dad's for the evening. By this time, 3 chicken breasts have been in the microwave for the entire day. We walk into our home and are greeted by the putrid smell of something incredibly nasty(even then, I didn't realize what it was...duh!). I'm washing the dog bed, dumping the trash & scrubbing the dishes trying to figure out how to get rid of the overwhelming stench. It took us a while to track down where the odor was coming from. Finally found it when I went to warm something up the next day. SO GROSS!!! We're not having chicken for a while :)
I have since learned that pregnancy & multitasking is a bad combination when food is involved.
